A cannabis social club is set to open on the urbanisation soon, according to posters in the window of one of the vacant Sector B commercial units.

Despite the rumours, Club Social Cannabico Genio Verde is not affiliated with Medical Cannabis Advice Spain, and the assocation have issued the followed statement regarding the club:

We have received several messages from people regarding Genio Verde opening, and asking if this is our association. We would like to make sure people are aware that Genio Verde is NOT our association.

To our understanding, this is a cannabis social club, and not a medical-only association. Although we at MCAS have no problem with recreational users meeting up and using cannabis (just like a pub) in a safe environment, we do, however, recognise the concerns of some of the local residents and business owners and, of course, we will be reaching out to the club to find out what their model is.

We encourage people to wait until we have had a chance to chat with the club instead of making complaints to the authorities as that only makes cannabis look bad.

We know that recreational cannabis consumption can be a controversial subject, but we must, at least, give people the benefit of the doubt and see what they can offer our community.

Please let’s give them a chance…

What is a Cannabis Social Club?

Cannabis social clubs are private, non-profit organisations in which cannabis is cultivated and legally distributed amongst the club’s members.

Members finance the system by subscriptions, according to their needs, and are issued with a maximum limit per month and per year.

  1. We need this like a hole in the head will do nothing for the community and lower the tone.

  2. Brilliant idea. I know there will be plenty with negative comments, but seriously? The drinkers are more antisocial than the smokers! I can’t recall the last time anyone attacked someone when stoned. Verbally or physically. I don’t know of any smokers that commit crime to fund their habits either… Lower the tone? No, I don’t think so – in fact, you’ll find the area a much happier place to be, and the other units might just benefit from sales of fast food to stoners with the munchies. Win – win!
Some of the uptight residents might like to go along and chill out. 😉

  3. If it helps people to relieve pain that every day drugs fail to do then it can only be a good idea.

  4. If it helps some people with illnesses and pain control, then its a good thing. To the general public, like us, who have tried it in Amsterdam, I also can see no problem as long as people are sensible. (its getting sensible people that is the problem lol)
