Welcome once again to our new weekly guide to what’s on in and around Mazarrón, where we scour the area for things to do so you don’t have to!

This week, Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta is still going strong, while on the urbanisation itself, Camposol’s International Fiesta kicks off on Friday with a jam-packed weekend of entertainment that’s not to be missed!

Monday, 21st August 2017

Day four of Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta begins with children’s water inflatables at the Piscina Municipal between 11:00 and 14:00, followed by a youth bicycle race later that day at 19:00 on the Explanada Auditorio Municipal.

There’s a children’s costume parade at the Auditorio Municipal from 19:30, a football tournament at Polideportivo Cuatro Vientos at 21:00 and children’s show AniMagic at the Auditorio Municipal at 21:30.

Afterwards, there’s a performance by rock band Sharabia at 23:30 on Gran Vía, and a tug of war competition at midnight at the Recinto Ferial de Peñas.

The Internship is showing for free in Spanish at 22:00 tonight at Puerto de Mazarrón’s open-air cinema on Playa de la Isla, so grab yourself some popcorn and head on over for a night at the cinema — al fresco-style!

Synopsis: Two salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital age find their way into a coveted internship at Google, where they must compete with a group of young, tech-savvy geniuses for a shot at employment.

Open Door Christian Centre on Condado de Alhama are hosting an arts and crafts morning for children aged five to ten from 10:30, and Rod Stewart tribute act Steve Fisher is performing at Oscar’s Bar and The Diner & Bar from 21:30.

Tuesday, 22nd August 2017

Today, at Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta, there’s a children’s drawing competition between 10:00 and 13:00 at the Biblioteco Municipal, an exhibition of handcrafted goods from 12:00 at Centro de la Mujer de Fuente Álamo, food and drink for the elderly at Casa de la Cultura at 13:00, and a Parcheesi contest at Centro de la Tercera Edad at 17:00.

Evening entertainment includes a traditional potting contest on Calle Manuel de Falla at 19:00, children’s soft play on Gran Vía between 19:00 and 23:00, rollerskating at 20:00, a performance by Asociación Trovera Jose María Marín at the Auditorio Municipal from 23:00 and a performance by Ciudad Canalla next to Bungalow at 23:30.

The Condado Club on Condado de Alhama are relaunching their weekly Spanish class this afternoon at 15:30 for just 5€ per class, and, over on Camposol, saxophonist Paul James Allen is entertaining diners at The Camposol Triangle from 21:00.

There are activities for children on Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas (Paseo Marítimo) in Puerto de Mazarrón at 21:30.

Wednesday, 23rd August 2017

There’s a foam party taking place at the Auditorio Municipal between 11:00 and 14:00 today for Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta. Afterwards, there’s a PlayStation 4 FIFA tournament at Local Akituocio from 17:00, followed by two giant slides on Calle Manuel de Falla at 18:00, a bachata and salsa workshop at Local Akituocio at 21:00 and a costume parade at 21:00.

Twobacks are playing at Oscar’s Bar & The Diner & Bar at 21:00 this evening, while Shutter Island is showing at 22:00 at Puerto de Mazarrón’s open-air cinema on Playa de la Isla from 22:00.

Synopsis: In 1954, a U.S. Marshal investigates the disappearance of a murderer, who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane.

There are activities for children on Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas (Paseo Marítimo) in Puerto de Mazarrón at 21:30.

Thursday, 24th August 2017

This afternoon, at Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta, there’s an aqua gymkhana at 12:00 at the Auditorio Municipal, and then the PlayStation 4 FIFA tournament final from 17:00 at Local Akituocio.

Later on, there’s a crazy car race taking place on Calle Manuel de Falla at 19:30, followed by an evening of rap from 20:30 at the Recinto Ferial de Peñas, a tribute concert to Alejandro Sanz at 23:00 on Calle Manuel de Falla and a DJ set by Charly Rodríguez from 01:00 at the Recinto Ferial de Peñas.

Camposol’s The Vista Bar are holding their weekly Quiz & Curry Night this evening from 18:00, and award-winner singer Dee takes centre stage at The Camposol Triangle from 21:00, performing songs from the seventies to the present day.

It’s Thursday Evening Jam Night at The Club House from 21:30, and there’s a performance by Antuán Muñoz on Paseo Agustín Herrerín (Playa de La Ermita) in Puerto de Mazarrón at 23:00.

Children’s entertainer Mr E is hosting a disco for kids of all ages over at The Clover Bar on Condado de Alhama from 18:30, and there are activities for children on Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas (Paseo Marítimo) in Puerto de Mazarrón at 21:30.

Friday, 25th August 2017

Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta begins with a modern dance masterclass from 12:00 at Local Akituocio, followed by a storytelling afternoon and a theatrical performance at the same location from 18:00.

At Pabellón Municipal de Deportes, there’s a bubble football championship at 19:00, then a family gymkhana at 19:30 on the Explanada del Auditorio Municipal, a migas cooking competition at 22:00 on Calle Manuel de Falla and performances by local bands at Peña KBS from 23:00.

At the Recinto Ferial de Peñas, there’s a giant pool table at 23:00 and a performance by Blackbirds at midnight, and on Calle Manuel de Falla, there’s a dance show at 23:00, a performance by Sandra Bruman at 23:30 and a performance by Musical Divas at 01:00.

Meanwhile, at Camposol’s International Fiesta on Sector B’s lower car park, this evening opens with a speech by councillor Patricio Sánchez at 19:00, followed by a martial arts demonstration by Colina Roja at 19:15, and performances by pop singer Kellie Venelli at 20:00, Motown singer Charlie at 21:15 and Harlequin Rock Choir at 22:45

Between 19:00 and 21:00, throughout the duration of the fiesta, there’s a Family Area with activities such as colouring and board games for children under the age of 12, and a Teen Chill Out Area for teenagers aged between 13 and 18. There’s also a treasure hunt for ages 12 and over.

Once the family and teen areas close at 21:00, there is a free one-hour sing-a-long land train ride around Camposol. Spaces are limited to 30 people per evening, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Over at The Camposol Triangle, singer Scott James is entertaining the crowd at 21:00 with a variety of songs from all eras and genres, and in El Alamillo, there’s The Beatles tribute actThe Starbeats at Party on the Plaza from 21:00.

Top Queen tribute band Unrisen Queen are playing at Auditorio Parque Almansa in San Javier at 22:00. Tickets cost 12€ and are available from Mister Print, as well as from ticket vendors Sally and Nigel Burchill, who have arranged a return coach trip to the show for an additional cost.

Selected from hundreds of bands around the world to headline international tribute Freddie Mercury’s Memorial Day by Mercury’s friend and personal assistant Peter Freestone, Unrisen Queen have gone from strength to strength since their 2010 inception and are recognised worldwide, and by Peter Freestone himself, as the resurrection of the voice of Freddie Mercury.

This morning, Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta begins with a Texas Scramble golf tournament at Club de Golf Hacienda del Álamo at 09:00, followed by a dart tournament at Cafetería Play from 16:00. At 17:00, there’s a game of streetball taking place on Calle Doctor Marañón, along with a group running session.

Evening entertainment includes a yoga workshop at Local Akituocio at 18:00, storytime followed by an art workshop for children at 19:30 on Calle Manuel de Falla, a performance by Dvicio at the Auditiorio Municipal at 22:30, a rumba concert starring Rumba 3, Bordón 4 and Los Amaya on Calle Manuel de Falla at midnight and an electronica festival with Taao Kross at the Recinto Ferial de Peñas at 01:00.

Camposol’s International Fiesta’s festivities take place between 10:00 and 14:00 on Sector A’s lower car park this morning where there are stalls selling a variety of homemade goods, plus face painting, pony rides, fairground-style games and more!

On Sector A’s upper car park, there’s also a free laser tag tournament for teams of six, as well as individuals.

Saturday evening’s entertainment includes performances by conjurer EJ the Magician at 19:00, saxaphonist Byron Greenaway at 20:00, pop and rock singer Scott James at 21:15 and reggae singer Christopher Leslie at 22:45 on Sector B’s lower car park.

Between 19:00 and 21:00, the Family Area and Teen Chill Out Area are open, and the hour-long sing-along land train ride departs at 21:00.

Over on Sector C, Chloe Leigh is singing an eclectic mix of songs spanning all genres at The Club House from 18:30, while Vanessa Soul is performing at Party on the Plaza in El Alamillo at 21:00.

Woody is playing at Cat’s Bar and Tel’s Bar at 21:00, and Condado de Alhama are holding their last Traditional Market of the summer on Al Kasar from 18:30.

Sunday, 27th August 2017

Today, Fuente Álamo’s Fiesta begins with a classic car show from 9:00 at the Recinto del Mercado, followed by a classic car parade at 12:00 around Ronda Levante, Mediodía and Gran Vía.

Later on, there’s another parade along Gran Vía at 19:00, but of carriages and floats this time, and then a performance by Orquestra Maxims at 11:00 on Calle Manuel de Falla.

Between 10:00 and 14:00, at Camposol’s International Fiesta on Sector A’s lower car park, there’s a motor show featuring classic cars, sports cars and motorbikes from across the region.

Meanwhile, on Sector A’s upper car park, there’s a children’s sports day for kids of all ages, and also a treasure hunt for children under the age of 12, followed by a tug of war competition at noon.

Camposol’s International Fiesta winds down on Sunday evening with performances by blues singer Ikram Deliem and guitarist Leo Swing at 19:00, rock and roll band Big J Juanma & His Band at 20:30, pop rock band The Streeters at 21:45 and a joint finale performance by both Big J Juanma & His Band and The Streeters at 23:00.

At 21:15, there’s a grand prize draw and the closing ceremony begins at 23:45 to mark the end of the fiesta.

Between 19:00 and 21:00, the Family Area and Teen Chill Out Area are open, and the sing-along land train ride departs for the last time at 21:00.

There’s a car boot sale taking place at Mesón Mariano’s car park between 10:30 and 13:00, and The Geckos are playing at The Blues House from 18:00, covering seventies, eighties and nineties hits.
